Situation
Zimmer Biomet is a global medical technology company committed to transforming patient experience through innovative products and integrated digital and robotic technologies that leverage data, data analytics and artificial intelligence.
Zimmer has a strong inhouse UX/UI team but needed additional support to deliver a project to prototype and test a digital health app in development.
The team turned to nuom due to our track record in delivering healthcare products.
Solution
Nuom created an embedded design team to work closely alongside the Zimmer team, including designers and engineers as well as an experienced project manager to manage and track responsibilities for both Zimmer and nuom throughout the process. A design research plan was created to set out the stages of the project, including requirement mapping, prototyping and user testing.
The project team used nuom’s Pace process to rapidly identify key requirements, agree objectives for the application and create high fidelity prototypes within just a few weeks. These prototypes were used to provide a realistic product experience conduct user testing with patients/end-users and medical professionals.
Outcome
The nuom team successfully managed, designed, prototyped, and tested the solution with patients and medical professionals within a few weeks.
The use of high-fidelity prototypes enabled user research to elicit valuable insights that were used to create a report plan with recommendations for the future product strategy.
The Zimmer team reported a positive experience of bringing onboard an external product team and would consider the approach again in the future.
