Helping women support women through the menopause
Lead by Dr Claire Mann, Change Xtra is on a mission to support women through the menopause. We built her a rapid site that would help give women the support they need.
Let’s talk Menopause
ChangeXtra is on a mission to get people talking about the Menopause. They're creating a community of women to support each other through positive change.
When Claire came to us, she needed a website launched in rapid time. International Menopause Week was approaching and she wanted to capitalise on the huge press the world was going to give women going through the menopause.
Change Xtra aim to support women through education, their online community, and one-to-one mentoring. Her ultimate goal was to amplify these services, reassure women there was support available and drive appointment bookings.
Creating a plan of action
We ran a 1-hour workshop with Claire and her team to look at the key challenges of the website. What did visitors want to know? What information can we provide? How can we show the options for support available?
During the workshop, we organised the main pages of the site and worked out the sections needed on each page along with the content they'd contain. This sitemap then formed the foundations of the whole site, giving us a clearer understanding of how the website would flow as well as helping us think about possible design directions.
Supporting the women that need it
After the workshop, we began using the information from the previous day to start mocking up potential solutions for the new site.
Most experiences for women searching for meanpause support online are a dull affair. Most websites focus on complex medical information and forget to appeal to the women behind the symptoms. Both Claire and ourselves were keen to create a more friendly experience, from the look and feel right through the messaging across the whole site.
Bringing our ideas to life
Using Webflow we can move rapidly from prototyping in a few days to build. It's an intuitive and performant no-code editor that allows us to pull together websites with easy
We also built an entire UI framework, allowing us to build on top of pre-built components and utility classes in order to speed up development and make the site more scalable in the future.
As part of the build, we migrated all of their existing articles to a new CMS, and set up a custom editor to help Claire's team publish new content in the future as well as intuitively manage every aspect of their site such as text or imagery.
Quick launch, big results
After the finishing touches, we hit deploy and watched the Change Xtra website come to life. We launched a few days before International Menopause Day (18th October). This saw a huge spike in traffic, helped by Claires numerous press appearances. We saw a huge increase in bookings in the first week that grows MoM.
Change Xtra went from an organisation that was trying to get the word out to a thriving network of women supporting other women
